Southland Conference Women's Soccer Report

Southeastern Louisiana is 9-4 in the SLC (Photo / SLU.com)
Hammond, LA - Writing for the American Sports Network, I've become much more familiar with the Southland Conference (SLC). It's an outstanding Division I conference based primarily in Louisiana and Texas with one representative in Arkansas.

While its football has a well-known history and merits the most ink each fall, the Southland is home to some of the country's top women's soccer talent. The Southeastern La. Lions women's soccer team is one of the conference's best units. At 9-4 and in fourth place in the 12-team circuit, they're looking to bounce back after falling to league-leading Stephen F. Austin yesterday.

Maddie Kresevic (pictured above) is one of a handful of talented midfielders for the Lions. This Friday they face Central Arkansas (6-9-1, 3-4-1) in Hammond. The game is an opportunity to put some distance between the Lions and the league's midpack. Canadian Hope Sabadash is a top SLC talent in goal for the Lions and will be critical down the stretch for Southeastern. - TF
