Annapolis, MD - In a college baseball season marked by especially bad weather, Navy's baseball team is making a mark of it's own before heading into Patriot League play.

The Mids (14-5) split on Sunday against NYIT (1-3) and took three of the four game series at Max Bishop Stadium. The Bears had their first seven games erased from their 2015 schedule due to the weather and the series represented their opening games of the year.

Navy won convincingly, 15-4, in the nightcap of Sunday's doubleheader and head into their next game on Wednesday against the Big East's Georgetown (6-8) having won eight of their last nine.

Navy's Luke Gillingham (3-0) garnered national accolades by throwing a 15-strikeout, two-hitter on Saturday to win the second of Navy's trio of wins. He was honored as a Louisville Slugger National Player of the Week for the third time this season.
