Baltimore, MD - Yesterday in Washington, DC, the Teewaraton was awarded to two worthy recipients in the Thompson brothers, while earlier this week, the NCAA Championship trophy was awarded to an equally deserving recipient.
While Maryland might not be the most inviting place for a Duke team to win, they've certainly shown no aversion to it.
This year the Duke Blue Devils defeated the surprising Notre Dame Fighting Irish (12-6) for the second time in five seasons at M&T Bank Stadium for the NCAA National Championship. The final score was 11-9. In their first national championship match-up, Duke won in a 6-5 OT thriller in 2010, five seconds into the extra session.
The victory was also the Blue Devils' second consecutive national title and solidified Duke, while under John Danowski, as one of the top teams of the decade to date.
